movie- The Boy In The Striped pyjamas

Set during World War II, a story seen through the innocent eyes of Bruno, the eight-year-old son of the commandant at a concentration camp, whose forbidden friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence has startling and unexpected consequences.

Bored and restless in his new home, Bruno, an innocent and naive eight-year-old, ignores his mother and sets off on an adventure in the woods. Soon he meets a young boy, and a surprising friendship develops. This remarkable and inspiring story about the power of the human spirit will capture your heart and engage your mind.

This movie will defiantly make you cry your eyes out. But don't be put of, it is a MUST see!

Book- Life On The Refrigerator Door by Alice Kuipers

This book is written through a series of notes that are left by a mother and her daughter to communicate through their busy lives.
It is a very quick read leaving only a couple of sentances per page in some cases but it is a story worth reading. Claire is busy with troubles with boys, school, friend, and her mother who is always so busy at work and at home being a single parent. Claire and her mum hardly ever see each other which results in them leaving notes upon the refrigerator door to talk to each other, even when Clairs mum has to tell Claire something that could change their lives forever.
I loved this book but managed to finish it in a matter of hours, truly a sad but a gripping story.

movie- Mean girls

Cady Heron is a 15-year-old home-schooled teenager who’s going to public school for the first time after living in Africa where her parents worked.  Her mum Betsy has gotten a position teaching at Northwestern College, so she and Cady’s zoologist dad Chip have packed up and moved Cady to a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. Her first friends become student outcasts Janis Ian  and Damian. They say that Cady is a “regulation hottie,” and whatever clique she gets into, she should just beware of the Plastics.  The Plastics are a group of super-hot, super-snobby popular girls consisting of Regina George, Gretchen Weiners , and Karen Smith.  Regina is the leader (or “Queen Bee”) who is a genius at teenage manipulation; Gretchen is a spoiled brat gossip living off her family’s fortune (her dad invented toaster pastries); and Karen is a cute blonde but not very clever. Cady had originally intended to join Ms. Norbury’s Mathletes team, which includes an math geek named Kevin Gnapoor (Rajiv Surendra) who thinks that he is a smooth player, but instead gets sucked into the world of the Plastics when Regina takes a liking to her and invites her to eat with them in the cafeteria.  Instead of trying to talk Cady out of joining the Plastics, Janis and Damien look at it as a way to infiltrate the Plastics’ world and find out all of their secrets.  They convince Cady to become a Plastic and report back to them.  Cady finds out things like Regina’s “burn book,” that includes mean, nasty observations about most everyone at the school, along with their pictures.  She also learns that they aren’t allowed to wear the same hairstyle two weeks in a row, and that ex-boyfriends are off-limits, like Regina’s ex Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett), a boy she met in her math class.  When Regina finds out about Cady’s attraction to Aaron, she decides to mess with her by making her think that she has a chance with him.  After Regina’s betrayal, Cady becomes determined to not only spy on the Plastics, but to take them down as well.  The more she does mean things to the Plastics, the more she starts becoming similar to them.  Her new mean-spiritedness not only affects the Plastics, but Janis and Damien as well, and Ms. Norbury, who is accused of being a drug dealer.  If the girls can’t get a handle on their cruel actions, Principal Duvall might cancel the Spring Fling…and nobody wants that.

I think this is a must see movie and is a great watch

Movie- My Sister's Keeper

'My Sister's Keeper' is a movie about the life of a family when one of their children get's very sick and is diaagnosed with cancer. This is a heart warming and touching film that is sure to bring a tear to the eye.

The movie begins with Kate being a very young child and her mother finds a mark on her back which is then diagnosed with cancer. Her parents then make a decision to have a baby made in test tubes to make sure that the new baby (named Anna) would be a perfect match to give Kate her body parts in order for Kate to stay alive.

Later on in the movie something brings up Anna's decision to stand up for herself and not agree to the operation in giving Kate her body parts. Her Mum dosn't take it well which then results in Anna going to court against her own Mum.

My friend reccemended this movie to me and I thought it was great!!! At some points it brought a tear to my eye (and I NEVER cry in movies).
